Zinn Farms' free range goat herd is a Boer / Nubian cross.
The Boer breed was developed in the early 1900s in South Africa. This is a great breed for meat production. Our goats are crossed with the Anglo-Nubian, a classic milk goat to ensure a superior quality meat without sacrificing the animals ability to care for its young
At eight months of age goat kids are at slaughter to guarantee a tender and flavourful meat. The market kids are finished with supplementary oats that creates a beautifully marbled and tender meat.
We breed our goats once a year, rather than every 8 months. This reduces stress on the does and improves their health. Raising goats in a low-stress environment is key to creating the best Chevon available.
